Training your dog is an intergral part of providing a good home for it. It also makes for a happier owner because the dog is happy. This article can help you see the benefits of training your dog. One tip to keep in mind when training your dog is that everything you do with your dog is molding its personality and behavior. This is important to know, because you might undo certain desired behaviors inadvertently by teasing your dog or engaging in horseplay. You will want to mold your dog by always working toward desired behavior. You should call your pet by name at least 10 times a day. You can practice using their name when you give them treats and food. This will help them to get used to their name. Don't punish your pet at anytime for coming to you when you call their name. When training your dog, a great tip is to make sure you train your dog a certain amount of times for a certain lime limit depending upon its age because this is important to ensure your dog grows up to be well-mannered. For dogs that are under four months old, you should train them three times a day for five minutes each time. For dogs that are four to eight months old, you should train them two or three times per day for ten minutes each time. For dogs over eight months old, you should train them twice a day for fifteen minutes each time. Always remember that it takes time and patience to train a dog. Some dogs pick up things quickly, while others take longer. Each individual dog will have their own learning pace, so be sure to be aware of what your dog's pace is. Try to be as positive as possible when working with him so that he thinks it is a fun activity to do with you and will look forward to your training sessions. If you want to house train your dog and teach it to ask to go outside, you should associate a command with going outside. Stand with your dog close to the door, say the command and take it outside. As you repeat this, your dog will go to the door when you say the command if it needs to go. If you are going to deem it perfectly acceptable for your pet to use the bathroom indoors make a designated area for them for elimination. Place potty pads there and or around there, and slowly migrate them such that there is only one pad in the spot you want them to eliminate. When you take your puppy out to go to the bathroom, you must be patient with him. He has a short attention span and may get distracted by sounds and smells, or want to play. This is normal puppy behavior and should not be reprimanded, especially while he is still learning. Training a dog can be frustrating, however if a person uses a different language than is normally heard by the dog while teaching it commands, it can be quite effective. Have you heard about the police dogs who were trained using the Irish language? If not, you should check it out! The dog can then easily differentiate between people talking normally and when it is being given a command by someone who wants it to do something. In conclusion, you and your dog are going to have to adapt to apartment style living. This may prove to be difficult for you and your dog, but hopefully the tips provided in this article will assist you in training your dog properly, to ensure that everyone involved is happy.
